Biochemical Engineer

PsiOxus Therapeutics Ltd is an award winning Oxford based development stage biotechnology company developing novel therapeutics for the treatment of cancer, with a focus on immunotherapeutic approaches.  We have a first- generation oncolytic virus in Phase I/II clinical development and are developing an innovative pipeline of clinical, pre-clinical and research candidates using our proprietary T-SIGn cancer gene therapy platform technology.

The Role

Reporting directly to the Head of MS&T this is an exciting newly created opportunity to join the team, taking the lead in defining and conducting the lab and plant work necessary to develop, optimise and scale up the associated upstream and downstream processing.  The core function of the role is to lead and provide technical expertise on all aspects of process engineering.  The work will involve hands-on evaluation of process options and development/optimisation of processes in the laboratory and the transfer of lab-scale processes to pilot plant and beyond. The role may entail supervision of more junior scientists and close liaison with others within the team responsible for development and scale-up of the bioreactor process.

 

We are looking for someone that has several years hands-on industrial experience in the development of downstream processing of microbial biomass for recovery of recombinant proteins and transfer of these processes to plant scale.  In addition you will also have the following attributes:

 

  • Proven ability to work and communicate effectively as part of a team and internal/external stakeholders.

  • Excellent attention to detail.

  • Good organisational skills.

  • Experience in manufacturing in a GMP environment would be advantageous.

  • Applicants must be self-motivated, work to tight deadlines and be capable of readily adapting to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
