Scientist (Cell & Molecular Immunoassays)

PsiOxus Therapeutics Ltd is an Oxford based development stage biotechnology company developing novel therapeutics for the treatment of cancer, with a focus on immunotherapeutic approaches.  We have a first- generation oncolytic virus in Phase I/II clinical development and are developing an innovative pipeline of clinical, pre-clinical and research candidates using our proprietary T-SIGn cancer gene therapy platform technology.  The company is looking to expand its scientific team to support research and development of new immuno-therapeutic viruses and further build on our platform capabilities.  We have an open position at our Abingdon, Oxfordshire facility for a laboratory-based Scientist with an interest in pursuing a career in Biotech.

This laboratory-based role will involve the development and application of a range of different assays, including immunochemical, molecular and cell-based assays, to support the non-clinical generation, characterization and functional analyses of new virus candidates and their immunotherapeutic transgene products. Applicants for this role should have up to 3 years of demonstrable and relevant practical laboratory experience. Preferably this should include experience related to the selection and characterization of antibody reagents, as well as techniques for screening panels of potential new antibodies suitable for specific immunoassay uses.  One or more of the following additional experience and skills would also be desirable:

  • biochemical assays;
  • HPLC;
  • bioassays; or 
  • flow cytometry techniques.

The successful candidate will adopt a strong team-oriented and openly communicative approach to all activities, while working independently and proactively where appropriate, progressing towards largely independent working. Providing input and expertise to troubleshoot problems on any research projects are essential skills. Candidates will provide input into study and experimental designs and ensuring that all new ideas and technical know-how are appropriately identified and documented in a timely manner.

Successful candidates will have a life sciences degree and demonstrate excellent attention to detail, good organizational skills and an ability to meticulously and independently design and follow protocols to carry out and record experiments. They will be enthusiastic, diligent and team-oriented in their approach to work, together with having excellent communication skills, and preferably previous lab-based experience in industry.
