Laboratory Technican (GMP & GXP)


PsiOxus Therapeutics Ltd is an Oxford based biotechnology company developing novel therapeutics with a particular focus upon cancer.  The company has a diverse portfolio and currently has products in Phase I/II clinical development and an innovative pipeline of research stage and clinical trials candidates.


Reporting directly to the Analytical Manager this is an exciting new opportunity to support all GMP lab staff to ensure day to day running of all laboratory activities. This involves a variety of roles including stock management, equipment maintenance and communicating with team members to assist in tasks required for smooth running of laboratory activities.


Overall responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

Operate and maintain the laboratory facility and the systems within to both PsiOxus and GxP quality standards. This includes:

  • Responsible for consumable stock management, including stock taking, ordering and receiving deliveries;

  • Assist in logging and monitoring sample receipt, tracking and disposal to appropriate quality standards;

  • Restocking laboratories;

  • Ensure maintenance of adequate PPE including laundering of lab coats;

  • Manage freezer inventories;

  • Responsible for monitoring cold storage and stability chambers;

  • Monitoring liquid nitrogen levels and topping up cell banks;

  • Routine general day-to-day maintenance of equipment including cold storage;

  • Responsible for laboratory waste management;

  • Assist in temperature and equipment monitoring;

  • Ongoing calibration / checking of equipment (such as daily balance check);

  • Maintain equipment log books;

  • Organise contractors for service visits for equipment;

  • Assist in aliquoting and preparing general laboratory reagents as required.

  • Maintain an up-to-date GxP training record.

  • Operate to PsiOxus lab/office safety and other standards, following PsiOxus policies, regulatory and quality guidelines.


Candidates should have a previous experience in a GMP laboratory setting and sterile technique experience, with the following further requirements:

  • at least A level in Biology/Chemistry.
  • Minimum of two years experience in a similar setting.
  • Good knowledge of GMP, ICH and other analytical regulatory guidelines.
  • Proven ability to work and communicate effectively as part of a team and liaise with teams in other organisations.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Good organisational skills.
